    Supplies Needed:

  • The lump of matter consisting of the parasite and affected flesh didn't stick to the dressing.

    Case 8, female, 47-years old:

After wearing her dressing for a week, this patient returned to the clinic to have her dressing removed. When it was, the parasite and surrounding affected flesh didn't stick and come out with the gauze, as is normally the case. It's possible the dressing got wet during the week and thus broke the seal the Black Salve normally makes with the sore. [Click smaller images for larger versions.]

    Second Visit:

Still, after a little coaxing, the lump of matter came out but left some affected flesh, which appeared to go deeper than first anticipated. As per usual, however, the ulcer looked somewhat like a volcano, with the raised edge and central crater. (Sores can scab or not scab, be painful or not painful, and can cause similar cutaneous lesions to those produced by other diseases.)
